When you have no other choice but to exercise indoors, it doesn't have to be a chore. With these suggestions, you can make your workouts more engaging.
Due to time constraints or severe weather, exercising outside isn't always feasible. But that doesn't give you carte blanche to forgo a workout. These six ideas will help you stay active when you're stuck inside.
Exercise at home while watching a DVD or TV show. Many cable companies offer a "on demand" workout channel where you may watch fitness programs.
By strolling at your local mall, you can rack up some kilometers. For walkers, most malls open early. You might even be able to join a mall walking club.
Play some music and have a dance party in your living room. Better still, take a dance class at your local community center or adult education program to polish your moves. Ballroom dance, hip-hop, Zumba, salsa, and belly-dancing are just a few of the options.
At your gym, try something new. Take advantage of the opportunity to try a new class or rediscover an old favorite at your gym. Kickboxing, Pilates, weight training, yoga, spinning, and other activities are all available.
Make use of the indoor facilities. Swim laps in the pool, run a few miles on the treadmill, or play racquetball with a friend. Spend some time in the steam room as a reward.
Use the weight equipment at your local fitness center to increase your strength. If you don't have access to a gym, use hand weights or resistance bands to increase strength at home.
Remember that every attempt you make to move more will get you closer to a better, healthier lifestyle. While exercising indoors isn't always ideal, keep your weight loss objectives in mind when you're lacking in inspiration!
